Upgrade Your Headlamps For a Safer View Ahead

t’s relatively easy to upgrade your vehicle’s performance these days, with an electronic engine tune-up. Tyres, too, can be replaced with those designed to give greater economy, wet weather grip or durability. And after market brake and suspension components are also available, in the quest for a better-performing vehicle.

But one key upgrade that can easily be overlooked as a car’s performance is enhanced, is the improvement of a vehicle’s lighting and in particular headlamps. After all, if you are planning to go faster, wouldn’t it be sensible to ensure you can see more of where you are headed?

One simple way to upgrade car lights is to fit HID lamps. These bulbs, commonly also referred to as xenon headlamps, use High Intensity Discharge to create a light that is far brighter than that traditionally produced by car lamp bulbs. Manufacturers of higher priced cars, such as the luxury models in the Mercedes and Audi ranges, are already being fitted with HID headlights as standard, and you may have noticed them out on the road; HID lamps are distinguished by their bright white or blue-white beams.

Despite their substantially higher lighting output, HID headlamp bulbs use no more electricity than a regular car lamp bulb. And the good news for those of us with lesser Fords or Vauxhalls, is that it is now possible to buy a HID conversion kit for most models of car.

So now it is as quick and easy to upgrade our headlamps, as it is to improve the performance of the other components of our cars. So no excuses for not being able to see where you are going!
